Hello fellow beer lovers,

This is our first blog so this will be an intro to the store and what's to come. First I want to say this holiday season has been CRAZY!!! I ordered over 400 cases and 50 remain. We have brought in many specialty brews for the holidays and for winter. I will have more room for more after the New Year.

I am turning to the Old World fro some ideas and I have found some.
Here are just a few to mention:

Ayinger Altbairisch Dunkel: A ruby/amber color that has a creamy, malty taste and has a hint of chocolate.

Belhaven Scottish Ale: An excellent scottish ale, malty with raisin and plum notes with a smokiness that is common in a scottish ale.

Belhaven Wee Heavy: This is a classic example of how beer was brewed in 1800's Scotland. With a deep red/garnet color and a malty, peat-like aroma with a sweet and smokey taste.

And now, back to the states. There is a brewery in Maine that has maded it's beer available to the state of CT.

The name of the brewery is Stone Coast Brewing Co. in Bethel, Maine. I am researching the beers now and soon will be having an in-store tasting! If you would like to see the different beers they create, you can go to their website at www.stonecoast.com I can't wait to try them and I hope you will come to the store and try them with me!

As a final note, as I get used do doing this, I will have a beer quote and a monthly pick as well. Also, after some hurdles, we will be starting a Beer of the Month Club in the near future. As that time nears, I will let everybody know. If anyone has any ideas, please feel free to make suggestions.

Hope everyone has a safe and Happy New Year!!!

Hello Everyone,

We hope that all of you had a great holiday season and look forward to seeing all of you in the new year. We are going to keep bringing you new and exciting beers for you! There is still no snow to speak of, but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy all the winter and seasonal beers still in the store!! As they empty, I am filling the spaces with both popular and hard-to-find brews. I hope all of you will come and try them!

Some of the new beers:

Olde Burnside Ten Penny Ale
Anchor Brewery "Small" Beer
Paulaner Salvator Double Bock
Lagunitas Hairy Eye Ball

I also would like to thank you all for the suggestions for our Beer of the Month Club. I will be using them as I get closer to putting the club together. We have recently found another distributor for rare beers from all corners of the globe and not only do they taste good, the labels are pretty cool too!!

Well, I must be signing off now, I can actually see it snowing out now! Maybe if I hurry I can hit the slopes(maybe not). Hope to see everyone in the store. Be safe.

Hello Beer Lovers,

How has everyone been? I know this is a beer blog, but we have snow! OK OK, I know it's not much, but it's at least something. I have been very busy here and I have delivered for all of you. I have brought in new and exciting beers from Northwest US to China! there are over ten new brews for you to try! So without further delay, here they are:

Radeberger Pils: Golden yellow color with slightly grassy and fine hopiness aroma. Initial grass taste. Light and crisp with a dry finish makes this a very drinkable beer.

Spanish Peak Black Dog Ale: Back in the market after some time. Now has a new look and tastes for their revitalized brews from Bozeman, MT.

Avery White Rascal: This is a Belgian-style Ale that is light yellow in color with a wheat and lemony taste. Tasty with wheat malt, coriander and zesty orange.

Yanjing Beer: Deep gold colorand an aroma of dark smelling malts and some apple. Has a big grain flavor and a little chalky, still a nice drinkable beeer.

Adnam's Broadside Ale: Reminds people of an english bitter. Has a dark copper color with an aroma with toffee and stewed fruits. Rich in flavor with dark fruits, apples and the alcohol is noticeable.

Unibroue La Fin Du Monde: Hazy orange color with fruity aromas from the pour. Fruity(banana?) taste that gets spicy towards the end.

Wychwood Hobgoblin: Color of amber brown pours into the glass with a sweet smell like toasted malt and caramel. prune and a roastiness taste is distinct.

Klosterbrauerei Curator Dunkel Doppelbock: Dark brown color with earthy, chocolate and roasted malts aroma. Huge body with bready notes and chocolate, fruit-like flavors.

South Hampton Saison Deluxe(Farmhouse Ale): Has a brassy, tangerine amber with the aroma being wheat-like and spicy. This beer has a light and easy taste that is peppery.

Weihenstephner Original: This is a golden straw lager with an floral hop aroma and the taste is sweet, clean and crisp with a medium body.

Grimbergen Blonde Ale: Slightly hazed gold with spicy and fruity aroma. A fairly mild flavor with slight citrus.

Sam Adams Honey Porter: Has won awards previous years and by far the most prestigious was the recent 2006 Beer Lover's Choice Award. Now you can enjoy it in a six pack!

Sam Adams Longshot: This is in celebration of the American Craft Beer Week. The competition challenges homebrewers to see if their best recipes have what it takes to win and then get nationally distributed. The winning brews are:
Boysenberry Wheat
Dortmunder Style Export
Old Ale

I think all of these are excellent beers and I hope all of you will come in and try them!!

We have our bottle cap contest underway in the store. How it works is you bring in caps and for every five, you get a raffle ticket. Bring in Sam Adams caps andget a ticket for everyone! There will be prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place so get those caps in here!!

Fellow Beer Lovers,

Hello everyone!! How have you been? Hopefully everyone is well and has been enjoying the wintry weather out there. I am not going to hold off any longer and I will get right to the point now.

We have BEER!!!! No, I don't mean the usual domestics. I am talking about what I promised all of you and set upon doing. My job here is complete. There are too many to mention or talk about as in the usual blogs. You will just have to come down and see for yourself. I guarantee you will not believe the amount of new brews I have personally selected for all of you. I am so far behind on tasting all of them I need your help so come on in try them and then let me know how they are.

I have been doing beer tastings for the last few weeks and they have been great and I thank all of you for coming down and enjoying them with me. I will be doing another one this Saturday from 1PM to 5PM. Come on down and try some. You will not be disssapointed.

Remember we are still doing our bottle cap raffle contest, so get your caps in to win some cool prizes!!

Beer Of The Week:

Ellie's Brown Ale: This is a must try. Nice and smooth and just one of the many new beers in our store!! This will be one of the beers I taste this Saturday.

OK, I am all done now. I have to go help Lou finish off another new beer . Again as always, THANK YOU all for coming to the store and anyone with any questions or comments please feel free to come in or email us.

Don't forget St. Patrick's Day!!
I have brought in more than just the usual Irish beers for you!!!

Guys, how could you think that you are first to offer Sam Smith in New Haven county. I have been enjoying Sam Smith in New Haven county for years.

It is nice that you are offering alternatives to the domestics, but how can you think that you are the first one offering Sam Smith in New Haven County? Do you think that people will beleive you?

One store in your immediate area (a mile away)that offer many of the beers that are new to you (and a score or more than you)are

*) Casper's Wine & Spirts located in Heritage Village next to Friendly's Restaurant in Southbury. (203) 262-9463, and

Another store located a little farther away (about 7 miles) is
*) Mountainview Plaza Wine/Liquor located in Mountainview Plaza, 727 Rubber Avenue, Naugatuck, Ct. (203) 729-5445

Both of these stores are real beer stores. They are the real beer guys. They have been doing it and doing it very well for years.

When you want beer, and you want a great selection, see Casper's Wine & Spirt located a mile away in Heritage Village in Southbury or Mountainview Plaza Wine/Liquor (about 7 miles away) located in Naugatuck.

Who are you, Beerman? clearly you are not a real beer man. Beer is the sacred juice of the gods. I don't think a beer selection consitutes only one beer of each type on the shelf. Or a store that is so crammed with stuff everywhere that you can't walk. I have been to almost every beer store in the area and i have to say Mt View is the best Cork & Keg is second, Yankee Discount is even with Cork & Keg,

From what i have seen in all the stores named above Caspers' selection is questionable with the limited variety. All I have to say is if yoiu buy from caspers watch for out of date beer.

OK,OK enough with this little bickering and so forth. I am going to answer both and see if I can help.

First, I will speak to the "real" beerman. If you have read my blog, there is no reference to being the first store in New Haven County to carry them. I do know that our weekly newsletter said that, but I do not do the newsletter. You must have read that first then blogged. This is my beer blog or info page for our new beers that I choose for our customers, not an ad page for other stores. You are always welcome for comments, but please no advertising. Also, I don't claim to know everything about beer as I guess you do which I think is impossible. Too many beers not enough hours in the day. Thanks for the info on the other stores and I will be going to check them out. Fellow beer men should not attack or demean each other. Instead, they should talk to each other. I am sure we would find that everyone has their specialties. I have talked to the beerman of Mountainview and he is a very knowledgable man in beer and hopefully people can all be like him. Unfortunately, not all can.

Now, for Mandy.

YOU GO GIRL!!! You may very well be right on with the stores you chose thanks for the positive feedback.
